Ok, so, one of my commitments this year is to let the existing group of influencers grow and add new people to it. As of today, everything has been arranged and made ready to start the expansion program. The digital world, our digital world, is nothing without influencers who tell others what they’ve seen, what they’re waiting for or what’s cool and what’s not. That’s why influencers are important. That’s why we need them, and if you feel addressed, then that’s why I need you.

Before you say: “Weeeeeeh! Free Stuff!” let me shine a little more light on this matter and explain what this is all about. (if you say “Booooh” stop reading here and spend your time more useful.)

Here is the profile of an influencer, according to McCann’s latest research, somewhat based on that, here’s what I’m looking for in Belgium’s online world:

• First amongst friends to try new products/services
• Likes taking risks
• Spends a lot of time out and about or online with friends
• Friends ask them for opinions when buying things
• Pursues a life of challenge, novelty and change
• Is always looking for new products/services to try
• Has a channel to broadcast opinions
• Has a certain following/network tuned in to that channel
• Has a keen sense of adventure
• Seizes opportunities when they arise
• Is an optimist
• Is interested in other cultures

Do you still recognize yourself? Great! So what do I expect from you if you join the circle of influencers? Well, a few things.

1. An RSVP to invitations is very much appreciated, even if you bail out.

2. You should be into testing betas, exploring new things we release.

3. Send feedback, bugs and critic remarks to me or

4. throw them in the group during video conferences with the dev teams.

5. Broadcast your experience over your network.

6. Give me a little insight in the depth and reach of your network.

7. Be comfortable with the non-disclosure agreement policy if it is set.

You do NOT have to be all pro-Microsoft. I’ll still love you when you have a Mac. You won’t get beaten up for having a Nokia or an iphone and if you play a PS3 or Wii, we can still be friends.
