The Manhattan Project
There is a little WoW in everyone of us, but just that little more inside of Jan, the 14 year old bloke from the Czech Republic who created a virtual world with Microsoft technology. Using Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, all gifted from Microsoft through the Project Manhattan program, Jan has built an OpenSim grid of enormous power. The OpenSim grid is kind of like SecondLife, but it doesn’t run on ‘competitive’ technology. It’s a user-generated world, even more so than SecondLife, since it also allows developers to create the world itself, and not just objects in it. Follow Jan’s Live Space to stay on track with his adventure.
Way to go Jan! :) | via: Association of Virtual Worlds
