The Health Search Engine
I just read this on Adotas:
As part of a wider strategy to enter the consumer health market, Microsoft yesterday announced its intention to buy Medstory Inc., a company that develops web search technology specifically for discovering health and medical information.
Medstory will become part of Microsoft’s recently created Health Solutions Group. The company uses an intuitive search technology that can deliver more refined and targeted search results to both consumers and healthcare professionals. In turn, searches for one type of health issue may also reveal related research, as well as pharmaceutical and/or nutritional information.
“Instead of trying to force people to think in terms of the way a computer searches, we’re enabling computers to more intuitively conduct searches in the way that people think,” said Medstory CEO Dr. Alain Rappaport in a statement.
Medstory was founded by Dr. Rappaport and a company called Neutron Data, a developer of artificial intelligence software. Rappaport will become the new general manager of the Health Solutions Group.
Last year, Microsoft acquired a patient record database company called Assyxxi and signed a strategic partnership with the MedStar Health healthcare group.
I’m not surprized about this move. From all over within Microsoft, we are invited to start up initiatives for Healthcare or Education in general, because these two pillars are very important in society nowadays. They always have been, but they didn’t always got all the support they needed. In the near future I’ll have to develop projects in these sectors as well. Interesting. They know, where is the Future. In Austria is netdoktor.at, in Croatia is plivazdravlje.hr and vasezdravlje.hr. There is no a good search engine in Croatian, Bosnian or Serbian language.
And today we’re a looking for wellness or how to keep our Health in our hands.
